Myanmar President U Thein Sein has urged the United Nations (UN) to further strengthen and expand the areas of cooperation with the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).
In a congratulatory message on the occasion of the UN’s 69 th founding anniversary, he stated that as the current chair of ASEAN, Myanmar welcomes the cooperation between ASEAN and the UN through the implementation of the Joint Declaration on the Comprehensive Partnership which was signed on November 19, 2011.
The President affirmed Myanmar’s resolve to pursue reform and expressed his gratitude to the UN for its supports to Myanmar.
He pledged that the Southeast Asian country will continue to shoulder her responsibilities as a UN member and work hand in hand with the international community.-VNA
