At the opening ceremony (Source: indianexpress.com) Hanoi (VNA) - Myanmar has opened two new international border checkpoints with India in Tamu and Reedhorda towns to facilitate travel on both sides, according to the Myanmar News Agency.
The Tamu and Reedhorda border checkpoints in Sagaing region and Chin state, which respectively link with Moreh and Zowkhaw areas of India, were opened simultaneously on August 8.
People holding passports and valid visas will be allowed to enter and exit through these international border checkpoints, the news agency reported.
The opening was an activity to implement the landmark Land Border Crossing Agreement signed between the two countries during a visit to Myanmar by Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj on May 11.
During this visit, the two sides also inked six other agreement and memoranda of understanding.-VNA
