NA leader receives newly accredited diplomats of Vietnam

Hanoi (VNA) – National Assembly(NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on February 13 received newly accreditedambassadors and heads of overseas representative agencies of Vietnam, askingthem to promote economic diplomacy to help with national development.

At the meeting in Hanoi, the ambassadorsdescribed Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements throughout the reform processas an important basis for the country to realise the Party and State’s foreignpolicy in other countries.

The diplomats affirmed that serving in theirposts in different countries, they will make use of advantages and addressdifficulties so as to contribute to the cause of national development andsafeguarding.

Ngan said as overseas representatives ofVietnam, the ambassadors and heads of representative agencies should deal withissues related to Vietnam’s external relations well, thus becoming a truebridge for the country’s friendship and development cooperation with othernations and partners.

She held that as Vietnam is promoting intensiveand comprehensive integration into the world, they need to pay heed toimproving economic diplomacy and work hard to seek foreign partners andintroduce business and investment chances in Vietnam to them.

The top legislator requested the diplomats toput the homeland’s interests above all, stressing that the diplomatic sectorneeds to coordinate closely with relevant agencies to capitalise on manydialogue channels to concurrently protect the country’s sovereignty andterritorial integrity while making good use of support from internationalfriends.

On this occasion, she also asked the Ministry ofForeign Affairs and the diplomats to keep working with the NA’s agencies tofulfill Vietnam’s roles as host of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly(AIPA) in 2020, especially the organisation of the 41st AIPA General Assemblyslated for early September, and the AIPA Secretary General for 2019-2022.

The newly accredited diplomats should also payattention to cultural diplomacy and promoting Vietnam’s images in the hostcountries, Ngan said, adding that as Vietnamese people abroad are an integralpart of the nation, building strong overseas Vietnamese communities and enhancingnational harmony also help with national development and protection./.

Vietnam, China sign 32 cooperation documents

The documents include a cooperation plan between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the 2026–2030 period; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Organisation Commission of the CPV Central Committee and its Chinese counterpart; and a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.
