Hanoi (VNA) – The Standing Committee of the National Assembly approved the appointment of 16 ambassadors for the 2018-2021 tenure during the committee’s 25th session in Hanoi on July 13.

Earlier, Standing Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son presented Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s proposals on the designation.

The legislators voted on the proposal after hearing a report delivered by Chairman of the NA’s Committee for External Affairs Nguyen Van Giau assessing the PM’s proposals on the issue.

The NA Standing Committee began its 25th session on July 11. During the three-day meeting, the Committee considered three bills – the draft law on the Vietnam Coast Guard, the draft law on prevention and fight corruption (revised) and the draft law on protecting state secrets.

Other items on the working agenda included the plans on allocating and using the unused medium-term investment capital from the State budget in 2016-2020, and on allocating medium-term public investment capital for the national target programme on the East Sea and Islands, and a draft resolution of the NA Standing Committee on the environmental tax list, among others.-VNA
