NA Standing Committee convenes ninth session

The 9th session of the NA Standing Committee opened in Hanoi on July 16, reviewing the outcomes of the third sitting of the 13th NA and discussing preparations for the next meeting scheduled for late this year.
The ninth session of the National Assembly Standing Committee opened in Hanoi on July 16, reviewing the outcomes of the third sitting of the 13th NA and discussing preparations for the next meeting scheduled for late this year.

In his opening speech, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said the session is scheduled to discuss and adopt a draft ordinance on the amendments and supplements to some articles in the Ordinance on preferential treatment to those who made contributions to the revolution.

It will make comments to the Government’s report on a proposal to establish Ba Ria city under the southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau along with other activities, including giving opinion on personnel of the State Audit of Vietnam.

The Chairman said the fourth sitting of the NA will take place by the end of this year.

He added it is imperative that a large number of key national programmes and draft laws are carefully prepared and completed during this session, especially the first opinion poll on the draft Law on Land.

Regarding the opinion poll on amendments and supplements to the Constitution, due to take place during the fourth session, Hung highlighted the need to ensure progress, especially when collecting public opinion.

On the first day, most of the delegates agreed that the third sitting was a great success with many important bills and resolutions being adopted.

The new organising procedures also contributed significantly to the meeting’s success, they said.-VNA
