National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu received Deputy Attorney General of Cambodia ’s Supreme Court Chhuon Chantha on Sept. 21 who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

Luu said that Vietnam has made every effort to reform its judicial sector, with a focus on judgements. The visit, the first by a delegation from the Cambodian Attorney General’s Office, is an excellent opportunity for the judicial agencies from both nations to boost cooperation in related fields.

The legislator noted that Vietnam and Cambodia have enjoyed a traditional friendship and cooperated in many areas over the years, including mining, agriculture and planting rubber trees.

Two-way trade has grown steadily in recent years and is expected to reach the 2 billion USD benchmark in 2010, Luu added.

Chantha said the time-honoured friendship between Cambodia and Vietnam has developed constantly thanks to the people and leaders of both countries.

The Vietnamese people helped their Cambodian neighbours to escape Pol Pot’s genocidal regime and now are keen to assist Cambodia with its national construction, he stressed.

During its five-day trip the Cambodian delegation is scheduled to meet with judicial agencies from Hanoi and northern Quang Ninh and Bac Ninh provinces to share their experiences and promote friendly and cooperative ties./.
