Hanoi (VNA) – Personnel work will be tabled right after the seventh session of the National Assembly (NA) opens on May 20, according to Secretary General of the NA and Chairman of its Office Bui Van Cuong.

Cuong told a press conference in Hanoi on May 19 that the State President and the NA Chairperson will be elected at the session, and this work is expected to be completed on May 22 morning.

As competent agencies have not yet nominated personnel for the post of the Minister of Public Security, the legislature will not work on this position at the meeting, he added.

Vice Chairman of the NA Office Vu Minh Tuan said the session will be divided into two phases, with the first running from May 20 to June 8 and the second from June 17-28.

Legislators will consider and approve 10 draft laws, and three draft resolutions on piloting some specific mechanisms and policies for development in the central province of Nghe An, on piloting a new model of urban administration and specific mechanisms and policies for the central city of Da Nang, and on the 2025 law and ordinance building programme, and adjustments to the 2024 programme.

They will also opine on 11 draft laws, along with issues regarding socio-economic development, the State budget, supervision and others.

The opening session will be broadcast live on national radio and television channels, and the legislature’s TV channel./.
