A seminar on improving the management of the risks posed by natural disasters in Vietnam, especially those caused by climate change, took place in the northern province of Vinh Phuc on April 7.
The seminar, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), is part of a MARD project to teach institutions methods for natural disaster management, helping them design a national policy along with action and investment plans to minimise damage to households from serious natural calamities as well as those caused by climate change.
At the seminar, domestic and foreign experts discussed ways to complete natural disaster management institutions and contributed ideas to a draft law on natural disaster management in the country.
In addition, the experts contributed ideas to a manual on emergency natural disaster response, evaluated the influence of climate change on natural disasters and discussed the building of centres for the prevention of natural disasters at central and local levels./.
