DaNang (VNA) – Ship 302 of Naval Region 3 tugged a fishing vessel indistress of Quang Binh province to the mainland and handed over it authoritiesof Da Nang city on October 12.

Afterthe fishing vessel had arrived in the mainland, Deputy Commander Col. NguyenQuoc Quang and Deputy Chief of the Staff of Naval Region 3 Col. Ho Sy Dung visitedand offered encouragement to fishermen.

Theyaffirmed that the naval force in particular and law enforcement forces at seain general always stand side by side with fishermen during fishing trips.

Thefishermen were transferred to the border guard force of Da Nang and now instable health condition. 

VesselQB-98065TS with seven fishermen on board departed the Gianh fishery port ofQuang Binh province on October 5. It encountered an engine breakdown on October10 afternoon and went adrift at some 45 nautical miles to the northeast of ConCo Island.

Receivingthe distress signal, the Naval Region 3 Command deployed Ship 302, which wasoperating near the boat’s location at that time, to give help. It accessed thefishing vessel at about 7am on October 11./.

The Command of Coast Guard Region 2 briefed the fishermen on the Law of the Sea of Vietnam, the Fisheries Law, and legal documents related to IUU prevention. Officers also provided guidance on identifying areas under Vietnam’s sovereignty and jurisdiction, traditional fishing grounds, warning zones, and prohibited fishing areas.
