Cho Gao bridge, located in National Road 50 in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang, was inaugurated on May 1 in the presence of Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang.
Cho Gao is an important bridge spanning Cho Gao canal which connects Tien River (a major branch of Mekong River ) and Vam Co River in Long An province.
The new bridge was built 500 metres from the old bridge as part of a project to upgrade National Road 50, which is invested by the Ministry of Transport. With a clear span of 80m, much bigger than the old one, it is expected to ease traffic flow on both the national road and waterway in Cho Gao canal route, facilitating transport in the locality and the Mekong Delta region as a whole.
The construction of the 595m-long, 12m-wide bridge cost a total investment of 260 billion VND (12.3 million USD).-VNA
