The Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction Group based in the Republic of Korea has signed a 1.3 billion USD contract to build a power plant in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh.

The project will be carried out by the Doosan Heavy Industries Vietnam Company (Doosan Vina), an affiliate of the Doosan Group, AES-VCM and the Mong Duong Electricity Company.

Under the contract, Doosan will provide the technology and purchase the necessary equipment for the 1,200MW plant.

It is expected to be completed by June 2015.

Doosan has been operating in Vietnam in 15 years, said Doosan Vina’s General Director BJ Cho, adding that the project would help to expand Doosan Vina’s operations in Vietnam . It is estimated the capital needed for the power plant construction will amount to 17.7 billion USD by 2015.

Doosan Vina, located in Dung Quat economic zone in the central province of Quang Ngai , employs nearly 2,000 workers who will be trained in building and operating skills./.
