Hoa Tien village in Chau Tien commune, Quy Chau district, Nghe An province, has become a standout destination for community-based tourism. With centuries of history, the village preserves unique cultural features, such as stilt houses, brocade weaving, rice wine traditions, and folk music and dance, providing visitors with a memorable experience.
After Hoa Tien village began developing community-based tourism, Sâm Thi Bich and a group of women established the Hoa Tien Brocade Handicraft Cooperative. Their brocade products have become meaningful gifts for tourists visiting the village.
In addition to preserving the brocade weaving tradition, Hoa Tien village also established the Thai Culture Preservation Club.
Starting with 8 members who shared a love for Thai folk songs, the club has now grown to 38 members. From humble farmers, the local people have gradually become enthusiastic guides, eager to share their way of life and culture.
Western Nghe An, with its diverse ecosystem and distinct cultural identities of ethnic groups like the Thai, H’Mong and Dan Lai, has great potential for community-based tourism.
Currently, 23 villages with 54 households are involved in homestay services, creating a growing network across the province.
Although community tourism products are still in the early stages and lack formal organisation and investment, initial successes highlight its promising future./.
