Nghe An (VNA) – President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on December 12 asked the central province of Nghe An, the native land of President Ho Chi Minh, to preserve and uphold the heritage of the late leader. President Phuc made the request while attending a ceremony marking the 60th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s second return trip to the homeland (December 8, 1961), held at the Kim Lien national special relic site in Nam Dan district.
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue sent banquets of flowers to the event.
In his remarks, President Phuc recalled the revolutionary life of President Ho Chi Minh who had chances to return to his homeland only twice since he left Kim Lien village in 1906.
He said the Politburo has issued a resolution on developing Nghe An into a socio-economic centre in the north-central region, adding during its second session, the 15th National Assembly also adopted a resolution on a number of specific mechanisms and policies on socio-economic development in Nghe An.
The State leader expressed his hope that the Party Organisation, authorities and people of Nghe An province will complete set development targets.
The same day, President Phuc attended the inaugural ceremony of a house dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh at the relic site.
During the trip, the State leader visited the local police force, asking them to set forth suitable plans to fight crimes and work harder to facilitate socio-economic development in the province.
On December 11, President Phuc, who is also Chairman of the National Defence and Security Council, had a working session with representatives of the High Command of Military Region 4 that covers six north-central provinces.
Highlighting the strategic position of the region in terms of politics, economy and national defence and security, the President urged the unit to play a more active role in social security, poverty reduction and national disaster response, and continue with COVID-19 prevention and control measures.
At a meeting with the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board the same day, President Phuc noted his hope that Nghe An will bring into full play its advantages to grow stronger in the time ahead.
He lauded the province’s fulfillment of assigned tasks, especially the disbursement of public investment that is estimated to hit 93 percent this year.
However, to make more breakthroughs in the coming time, local leaders need to optimise human resources and other potential and strength to spur economic development, President Phuc suggested.
Nghe An should complete its planning schemes and push ahead with investment projects, improve the business investment and raise the efficiency of the mass mobilisation work to grow further, he said./.
