Nhon-Hanoi Station metro line to begin commercial operation this week

The 8.5-km elevated section of the Nhon-Hanoi Station metro line, running from Nhon to Cau Giay, Hanoi, will open for commercial operation on August 9.

The plan has received the greenlight from the State Examination Council.

It is an important event, marking a new development milestone in Hanoi public transport system. The metro line’s success will create confidence for investors in the potential for developing transport infrastructure.

On August 2, the State Examination Council conducted a site inspection and evaluated the section, saying it meets the design and requirements.

The trial operation ensured technical conditions, and procedures related to fire prevention, environment and safety were carried out and approved by State agencies.

The Nhon - Hanoi Station metro project has a total length of 12.5km, running from Nhon in Nam Tu Liem district, via Kim Ma street to the Hanoi Railway Station in Dong Da district.

The line, whose construction began in 2010 at a cost of nearly 1.37 billion USD, passes through eight elevated and four underground stations./.
