Mong Cai border gates reopen after Yagi typhoon

On September 8, immigration and export-import activities at the Bac Luan I and Bac Luan II border gates in Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh province, returned to normal after being temporarily suspended due to the impact of Yagi Typhoon.

According to the Mong Cai Border Gate Management Board, as many as 2,500 people passed through the Mong Cai International Border Gate on the morning of September 8.

At the Bac Luan II gate, more than 150 containers and trucks were registered for export activities. Over 60 containers, primarily carrying seafood and fruit, were exported to China.

Due to the typhoon's impacts, floodwaters from the Ka Long River have risen, therefore, export-import activities at the temporary pontoon bridge at Kilometer 3+ 4 Hai Yen, remain suspended.

Statistics show that, the total export-import turnover through the Mong Cai International Border Gate in the first eight months of 2024, reached 2.64 billion USD, marking a 24 per cent increase year-over-year, while 265 new businesses began operation in the area./.
