No new COVID-19 case recorded on December 4

Vietnam recorded no new COVID-19 case on December 4, keeping the national tally at 1,361, according to the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam recorded no new COVID-19 case on December 4,keeping the national tally at 1,361, according to the National Steering Committeeon COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Also on the day, 11 patients were given the all clear, bringing the number ofrecovered patients to 1,220. The fatalities remain at 35.

Among those still under treatment, five tested negative once for coronavirusSARS-CoV-2, which causes the disease, four twice and three thrice. No patientswere in critical conditions.

A total of 17,238 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients orreturning from pandemic-hit areas are under health monitoring nationwide.

The Ministry of Health recommended people to continue serious following itsmessage featuring 5K (in Vietnamese) Khau trang (facemask) - (Khu khuan)disinfection - (Khoang cach) distance - (Khong tu tap) no gathering - (Khai bao yte) health declaration in order to livesafely with the COVID-19 pandemic in ‘new normal’./.

Vietnam moves toward universal free annual health checkups from 2026

Every Vietnamese citizen from 2026 onward will be entitled to at least one free annual medical checkup or screening. Each individual will also have a digital health record integrated into the national digital identification platform VNeID, enabling authorities and healthcare providers to manage health data in a synchronised and continuous manner.

Under the plan, each resident will be assigned a unique EHR linked to their personal identification number, ensuring accuracy and consistency while minimising duplication and data discrepancies. Health data will be continuously updated from medical facilities, routine check-ups, and screening programmes, then integrated and centrally displayed on the application.
