The relationship betweentraditional security and non-traditional security threats should befurther clarified to better outline solutions to danger, a senior publicsecurity official has said.
Chairing a symposium titled“Non-traditional security threats: identifying, experience andsolutions” in Hanoi on October 15, Deputy Minister of Public SecurityBui Van Nam said fighting non-traditional security threats forms animportant part of national defence and security in an ever-changingworld, helping to safeguard national safety, independence, sovereigntyand territorial integrity.
The symposium brought together seniorofficials, managers, scientists, and experts working in the variousrealms of national security.
They debated the basiccharacteristics of non-traditional threats to stability, development andsustainability in Vietnam and other countries and studied experience inresponding to these threats from the world’s major powers.
They also debated the responsibility of public security forces to respond to these threats.-VNA
