Northern industrial parks lure over 3,000 projects

Industrial and economic zones in northern cities and provinces have so far attracted more than 3,000 domestic and foreign-invested projects worth over 40 billion USD.

They make up nearly 40percent of the total number of projects invested in industrial andeconomic parks across the country, according to reports at a conferenceof management boards of industrial and economic zones in the northernregion that took place in the central province of Thua Thien-Hueon June 15.

Major parks that have operated efficientlyinclude Dinh Vu-Cat Hai in the northern port city of Hai Phong andVan Don in Quang Ninh province.

Delegates at theconference reviewed operations of the industrial and economics parks aswell as their impacts on socio-economic development.

They made in-depth analysis of the existing policies and mechanisms,focusing on shortcomings that hinder land clearance, compensation andinvestment attraction.

They also proposed incentives for housing projects for workers and measures to promote investment in industrial parks.-VNA
