The northern coastal province of Quang Ninh intends to introduce its socio-economic development strategy until 2020 and towards 2030 at an investment promotion conference on February 23.

"The two-day event will be an opportunity for economic institutions, investors, and businesses to meet and exchange ideas on long-term development policies and solutions," said Nguyen Van Doc, chairman of the provincial People's Committee at the press briefing held in Hanoi on Feb. 7.

Doc said the province has implemented policies to improve the business environment.

"We have given priority to promoting investment and administrative reform, bringing the province to the level of an industrialised locality by 2015. Quang Ninh continues to strive to be an attractive investment destination through its policies and mechanisms," he added.

The provincial People's Committee vice chairman Nguyen Van Thanh said the province has carefully prepared a list of 18 projects for which it is seeking investors this year.

Thanh said the projects are mostly in tourism, services, applied science and technology, training and transportation infrastructure, adding that the province has hired foreign advisors to prepare its socio-economic master plan.

"The province has applied a one-door policy to investment registration and licensing to better enable investors," he said.

Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen The Phuong said the conference will propose policies and solutions for economic development among regions, contributing to the country's growth.

"This will be the largest scaled conference of this kind so far," he said.

This event is expected to bring together 400 to 500 delegates from central governmental agencies, as well as domestic and international organisations.

Many programmes will be included in this event, such as field visits to Ha Long Bay and Cai Lan Port Industrial Park, open-cast coal mines, seminars, and agreement signing ceremonies. /.
