Northern provinces strengthen ties with Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

Cao Bang (VNA) - Representatives from northern border provinces of Cao Bang, Lang Son, QuangNinh and Ha Giang and China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on February25 signed a memorandum of understanding on their friendship cooperation for2022-2026.

The document was inked within the framework of an online get-togetherbetween leaders of the four Vietnamese provinces and the Chinese region, and the 13th meeting of the Joint Working Committee.

Standing Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu stressedthat developing comprehensive strategic partnership with China is always astrategic choice and a top priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy.

He proposed that Vietnam’s border provinces and China's region maintain exchanges and contacts at all levels inflexible forms, and share experience in socio-economic development planning,especially in building policies and comprehensive solutions during the rapidrecovery and sustainable development process.

The parties should strictly implement reached cooperation documentsand agreements, effectively implement existing cooperation mechanisms andagreements, he said, asking them to find a fundamental and appropriate solutionto completely solve the congestion of goods at border gates.

Last year, despite serious impact of the COVID-19 pandemic,the two sides maintained effective collaboration, contributing to stabilising people’slives, ensuring social order, and boosting economic development.

Exports through border gates in the northern border provincesof Vietnam and China posted positive results, with a total export turnover of9.14 billion USD.

In the year, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region granted 550,000doses of Sinopharm vaccine against COVID-19 and medical equipment and suppliesto Vietnam’s northern border provinces./.

Vietnam ready to strengthen BRICS connection with Asia-Pacific

Hang called on countries to act responsibly in accordance with international law and the UN Charter; respect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of states; refrain from using or threatening to use force; and settle disputes peacefully through dialogue. She also underscored the importance of ensuring security, safety and freedom of navigation through straits in line with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Photo exhibition highlights Vietnam–DPRK relations

Visitors at the exhibition were moved by historical photographs dating back nearly 70 years, including images of the founding leader of the DPRK Kim Il Sung personally welcoming President Ho Chi Minh and a CPV delegation at Pyongyang’s Sunan International Airport during their visit to the DPRK from July 8–12, 1957. In return, the DPRK leader paid an official visit to Vietnam from November 27 to December 3, 1958.
