Hanoi (VNA) – A delegation from the National Nutrition Instituteunder the Ministry of Health (MoH) on August 9 visited and supported mothersand children in flood-hit localities in the northern mountainous provinces ofSon La and Yen Bai with nutritious food products.

The products include multivitamin supplements for pregnant and breastfeedingmothers and protein and essential vitamin supplements for children from sixmonths to five years old.

The MoH’s bodies are working to support localities in preventing possibleepidemic outbreaks after the flood like dengue fever and conjunctivitis. Theywill promote popularisation on food safety and environment hygiene.

By August 8, the ministry had provided medicine and medical equipment for SonLa, DIen Bien and Yen Bai provinces.

Downpour, flood and landslides that ravaged northern localities earlier thismonth damaged numerous houses, roads and farm produce while claiming many locallives.-VNA

As of March 16, the province already assisted 2,306 out of the total 2,887 households in replacing temporary and dilapidated houses. The remainders will receive financial aid to build new houses or repair their old homes in the coming time.
