Vietnam highly values the contributions made by former Soviet Union and Russian military specialists to the country during its wars of resistance against the French and US.

Vietnam highly values the contributions made by former Soviet Unionand Russian military specialists to the country during its wars ofresistance against the French and US.

TheVietnamese Ambassador to Russia , Bui Dinh Dinh, stated this at theannual meeting of former Soviet Union and Russian military specialistsat the Vietnamese embassy in Moscow on August 5.

When he made his opening address, Ambassador Dinh highlighted thesignificance of the meeting and underlined the huge contributions madeby the retired military specialists to Vietnam in its paststruggles. He highlighted the fact that with assistance from the SovietUnion, Vietnam successfully built up a strong, modern air defenceforce to deal with the US air force.

He said he hopedthey would continue to contribute to the traditional friendship andstrategic partnership between both peoples./.
