Open double-decker bus debuts in Da Nang

The central coastal city of Da Nang officially launched its open-top double-decker bus tour on July 11.

Da Nang (VNA) - Thecentral coastal city of Da Nang officially launched its open-top double-deckerbus tour on July 11.

The city tour on the bus is beingoperated in co-operation with Empire Group.

The tour aims to create a “morereal experience” for sightseers, according to the city’s tourismauthority.

The first batch of 12 open-topbuses will start service this month at CocoBay – Da Nang’s largestentertainment-cum-hospitality complex – and the coastline.

The open-top double-decker busproject was joint project by Empire Group and local car maker Truong Hai. Thebuses will also operate in Da Nang and Hoi An city.

Earlier this year, the group alsolaunched the Martial Arts-Entertainment Coco Championship – its firstentertainment event – at the CocoBay.

Last year, the Cocofest, whichwas hosted at the CocoBay complex, drew 10,000 visitors to the two-nightperformance and entertainment activities on the beach.

In 2016, it inked a strategicco-operation deal for hospitality management in Vietnam with Dream Hotel Groupof the US and Louvre Hotels Group of France.

The group aims to develop aseries of entertainment and recreational centres, resorts, condotels, and aconference centre, in addition to a park and opera house, including the CocoOcean Resort near the Montgomerie Links and Da Nang Golf Club.

Da Nang lies within easyreach of the country’s best heritage icons, including Phong Nha-Ke Bang in QuangBinh, the UNESCO-recognised world heritage Hue monument complex, the ancienttown of Hoi An, My Son Sanctuary and world biosphere reserve Cham Island in QuangNam.

In 2012, the city introducedbattery-powered cars for tourists travelling along coastal destinations as apromotion for environmentally friendly public vehicle use.

More than 3.3 million tourists,1.2 million of them foreigners, visited the city in the first six months thisyear, a 33.2 percent growth.

Last year, a total of 5.6 milliontourists visited the city.-VNA
