Delegates at the conference, themed “Water4.0: Opportunities and Challenges,” agreed technological innovation has led tohigher productivity and more prosperity, but created greater pressures due tothe transfer of human resources.
Labourers in factories amid the FourthIndustrial Revolution will get new jobs with different requirements, they said,pointing out other challenges regarding facilities, equipment and managementmechanisms.
Given this, the water sector has attracted humanresources or transferred technological advances.
According to Phan Thien Dinh, Vice Chairmanof the People’s Committee of Thua Thien-Hue province, clean water supply is animportant target in local development.
The province has paid attention to upgradingthe water supply system so that more and more people can access clean water, hesaid, adding that 87 percent of the local population are using clean water.
Delegates agreed that to reach the target ofdeveloping the water sector sustainably, more heed must be paid to investmentin smart equipment, thus improving productivity and business efficiency andensuing water security amidst climate change and regional and internationalintegration.
