A ceremony to present the Golden Rose Cup Award to 100 outstanding Vietnamese female entrepreneurs in 2010 was held in Ho Chi Minh City on March 7.

Addressing the award ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan praised the positive contributions to national construction and development by the entrepreneurs over the past time.

He said their achievements were great pride not only of women entrepreneurs but also of Vietnamese business circles.

The Deputy PM expressed his hope that the award would be expanded to contribute more to the country’s renewal process and its integration into the world economy.

According to Dr. Vu Tien Loc, VCCI President and head of the award’s steering board, at present, enterprises owned by women or operating under women managers make up over 20 percent of the total number of enterprises across the country. The percentage is high in comparison with other countries in the world.

Meanwhile, Tran Thi Thuy, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs’ Council said over 100,000 enterprises in the country are put under the leadership of women whose leadership capability have been increasing strengthened.

The Golden Rose Cup Award initiated by the Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs’ Council under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) is held annually on the occasion of the International Women’s Day (March 8) to encourage and honour women entrepreneurs who have made great business achievements as a contribution to the country’s socio-economic development./.
