Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) – More than 1,000 athletes from all over Vietnam will compete at the national Paralympic Games that will take place from July 8-14 in HCM City, according to the Vietnam Paralympic Association (VPA).

Athletes from 31 delegations from provinces and cities will vie for medals in seven sports: athletics, swimming, table tennis, weightlifting, badminton, chess, boccia.

For young athletes, the games feature events in athletics, swimming and chess.

According to Vu The Phiet, Vice President and General Secretary of the VPA, this is the first time the Paralympic Games has held events for young athletes, with a view to discovering talented young athletes for international competitions in 2017, especially the 2017 Asian Paralympic Games in Thailand.

The event will take place at Thong Nhat Stadium and Tan Binh Sports Centre.

The VPA announced the Para Sport Vietnam fund as the game’s main sponsor.-VNA
