Over 10,000 people die of A/H1N1

The World Health Organisation (WHO) on December 18 confirmed that the A/H1N1 flu had killed more than 10,000 people in 208 countries and territories across the world since its outbreak in April.

The flu has left burden on the health sector of many countries, especially the developing ones, including Afghanistan, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, the organisation said.

WHO warned that the A/H1N1 virus is currently rife in Central Europe, Southeast Europe, Central Asia and South Asia . However, the disease is subsiding in many other regions like the Middle East and North America after reaching its peak there.

In addition to the A/H1N1 flu, seasonal flues is rampant in China , Mongolia , India , Nepal , Sri Lanka and Maldives . According to WHO’s statistics, seasonal flues cause 250-500,000 deaths each year./.
