Hanoi (VNA) – Up to 134,524 Malaysian people are staying in 613 evacuation shelters following the recent flood that claimed six lives, according to the Malaysian Department of Social Welfare on December 2.
Kelantan and Terengganu states are the hardest hit, both located on the eastern coastline.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that the Government has allocated additional funds to step up recovery efforts, which are expected to begin in mid-December.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is exploring appropriate forms of support to ease the burden on affected farmers, including financial assistance and flood recovery measures./.
