Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam recorded 16,135 cases of COVID-19, including 69 imported ones, during 24 hours from 4pm January 11 to 4pm January 12, according to the Ministry of Health.
Hanoi continued to record the highest number of infections with 2,948 cases, followed by Khanh Hoa with 772 and Binh Dinh with 702.
Also on January 12, the south central province of Khanh Hoa added 12,156 cases to the national COVID-19 case log after confirming relevant information.
The national tally reached 1,958,719, including 31 infections of Omicron.
On the day, the country saw 177 deaths from the disease. The death toll now hits 34,964.
A total 38,943 patients were given the all-clear on the same day, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,635,899.
According to the Ministry of Health’s report, 6,032 patients nationwide are in serious conditions, with 724 requiring invasive ventilation and 19 on life support (ECMO).
By January 11, the country had injected over 163.53 million doses of vaccines, with more than 71.51 million people now fully inoculated, while over 13.61 million third shots, either booster shots or the third shot of Abdala vaccine, have been administered./.
