A range of celebrations were held in France and the United Kingdom to celebrate the 64th anniversary of Vietnam ’s National Day and the August Revolution.

Addressing a meeting in Paris , Vietnamese Ambassador to France Le King Tai highlighted significance of the historical events over the past 64 years and reviewed the Vietnamese revolution’s historical stages from the past struggle for national independence to the national construction and development at present.

He recalled that President Ho Chi Minh sent a letter to the overseas Vietnamese people in France over the past 40 years (January 27, 1969), encouraging the community to promote solidarity and learn advanced technology to contribute to the national construction.

Ambassador Tai took this opportunity to present certificates of merit to 22 overseas Vietnamese in France , who made contributions to Vietnam ’s construction and development as well as to activities of the Vietnamese community in France .

In response to a movement for Agent Orange victims widely at home and abroad, the Vietnamese businessmen association in France asked the Embassy to transfer 3,000 EUR to the relief fund for Agent Orange victims of Vietnam .

On this occasion, the Embassy and the Vietnam cultural house in France organised a Vietnamese film week in France and painting and photo exhibitions on President Ho Chi Minh and the land and people of Vietnam.

Meanwhile in the UK , Vietnamese Ambassador Tran Quang Hoan hold a reception to celebrate Vietnam ’s historical events.

He reviewed the country’s development, stressing achievements Vietnam recorded in the “doi moi” (renewal) process and its rising role in the region and the international arena as well.

The Ambassador highlighted President Ho Chi Minh’s services to the country, calling staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives, overseas Vietnamese people and students to study and follow Uncle Ho’s example./.
