Thao made the statement whilereceiving newly-appointed US Consul General in HCM City Le Thanh Anon August 25. An is the first Vietnamese-American holding the positionof the US Consul General in HCM City .

Thaospoke highly of the role and contributions of the Vietnamese communityin the US , especially young people, and affirmed that the city hasalways created favourable conditions for Vietnamese youths overseas ingeneral and in the US in particular to visit and live in thehomeland.

The US ’s cooperation programmes andprojects implemented over the past time, including those of Vietnamesepeople, have remarkably contributed to the city’s development, shestated.

For his part, the US Consul Generalstressed that during his tenure, he will try his utmost to develop thecooperation between the two countries.

Heexpressed his wish to join the municipal authorities to organise moreexchanges between the Vietnamese community in the US and localresidents, especially programmes for young people./.
