Overseas Vietnamese enjoy warm Tet atmosphere

More than 200 overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in Beijing, China, celebrated the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival at a get-together held by the Vietnamese Embassy on January 27.

Addressing the event,Ambassador Nguyen Van Tho briefed the OVs on the country’s situation,the relationship between the two countries over the past time as well asmajor orientations for their future relations.

TheVietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership reapedpositive results on the basis of the motto “friendly neighbourliness,comprehensive cooperation, durable stability and looking towards thefuture”, and the four good spirits “good neighbours, good friends, goodcomrades and good partners”, he said.

Reflecting on theregular exchange of high-ranking visits and cooperation between the twocountries’ branches and localities, the diplomat said through suchvisits, Vietnamese and Chinese leaders reached important commonperceptions that direct the development of the bilateral ties in thetime ahead.

The ambassador also praised the significantcontributions of OVs to the country’s development, saying the Party andState of Vietnam have always paid attention to OVs in China and othercountries across the world.

The same day, the VietnameseEmbassy in Ukraine organised a New Year gathering for OVs in the hostcountry at Kiev National Aviation University.

The event sawthe presence of Vietnamese Ambassador to Ukraine Nguyen Minh Tri andVice President of the Ukraine-Vietnam Friendship Association LeokadiaGeracimenko, among others.

Speaking at the meeting, AmbassadorTri noted his appreciation for the efforts made by the overseasVietnamese community in the country, affirming that the Vietnamese Partyand State always consider OVs an integral part of the great nationalunity.

He pledged that the Vietnamese Embassy will createevery favourable condition to help OVs in Ukraine stabilise their livesand attain good results in working and studying there.

Withinthe framework of the event, there was a special art performance stagedby famous artists from Ukraine’s Kharkov, Odessa and Kiev cities withthe contributions of overseas Vietnamese students in the country.-VNA
