The Vietnamese business association in Germany held a meeting to welcome the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival in Berlin on January 31.

President of the organisation Vo Van Long reviewed the organisation’s activities during 2009, including its third congress and the fourth Vietnam business forum in Europe despite the difficulties of the German economy and the world’s financial crisis.

The year 2010 will mark the 35 th anniversary of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic ties, Long said, affirming that the Vietnam business association in Germany will exert greater effort to make more contributions to the success of “Vietnamese Year in Germany” and further increase friendship between the two countries.

The same day, Vietnamese Consulate General in Macao Special Administrative Region ( China ) organised an art performance on the occasion of the upcoming Tet holidays, attracting lost of Vietnamese overseas and guest workers in the regions.

Consul General Pham Cao Phong said cooperation between Vietnam and Macao Special Administrative Region of China has been expanded in many sectors, especially labour export.

He expressed his hope that the Vietnamese community in Macao will boost mutual assistance and contribute to promoting Vietnam’s image.

Earlier on Jan. 29, a get-together of the same purpose was held in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, during which Consul General Pham Cao Phong highlighted the cooperation achievements between Vietnam and China and the special administration region in particular, in trade, investment, tourism and education.

Vietnam is ranking 18 th among Hong Kong’s trade partners with total bilateral trade value of 4.4 billion USD, increasing 19.4 percent compared to 2008.

Meanwhile Hong Kong ranks 7th among countries and territories investing in Vietnam with total investment of 891 million USD, doubling the 2008’s figure./.
