The 22nd Annual Partnership Meeting kicked off in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on February 28, focusing discussions on solutions to give young people’s fair access to digital economy, green carbon and sustainable community development.

Bac Lieu (VNA) – The 22nd Annual Partnership Meeting kickedoff in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on February 28, focusing discussions on solutions to give young people’s fair access to digital economy,green carbon and sustainable community development.

The event has been co-organisedby the ActionAid International in Vietnam, the Aidfor social protection program Foundation Vietnam (AFV) and theprovincial Union of Friendship Organisations from February 28 to March 2 withvarious activities.

Speakingat the event, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Phan Thanh Duysaid the province has identified five pillars of socio-economic development,including hi-tech agriculture, industry with a focus on renewable energy, wind,solar and gas power; tourism, trade, services, education, hi-tech health care,marine-based economy linked to national-defence and security. It will alsouphold values of local traditional culture.

President of the provincial Union of FriendshipOrganisations Le Hoang Minh said Bac Lieuis one of the provinces that boast potential of wind and solar energy, shrimpfarming, salt production and aquaculture. Over the past years, naturaldisasters and saltwater intrusion have severely affected livelihoods of manyhouseholds.

Laudingthe ActionAid International and AFV for supporting Bac Lieu over the pastdecade, he hoped that the meeting will introduce the province’s potential ofcooperation with domestic and foreign non-governmental organisations in carryingout short and mid-term projects in renewable energy and sustainable agriculturedevelopment in the Mekong Delta.

Overthe past decade, the two organisations funded over 40 billion VND (1.73million USD) for short and long-term programmes in Bac Lieu, benefiting nearly250,000 residents.

Ata seminar on opportunities and challenges in renewable energy for communitiesin the Mekong Delta, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Industryand Trade To Minh Duong said Bac Lieu takes the lead in the Mekong Delta inrenewable energy development, particularly wind and solar power.

Withinthe framework of the seminar, delegates paid a field trip to Dong Hai districtto learn about several effective farming models.

On theoccasion, the ActionAid International in Vietnam and AFV presented 100 millionVND to the provincial Union of Friendship Organisations to build and repairhouses for the disabled./.

Coast Guard Region 3 intensifies patrols to combat IUU fishing

Vietnam Red Cross launches emergency aid for storm-hit provinces

The Vietnam Red Cross Society has decided to allocate over 3.3 billion VND (125,472 USD) in cash and goods to assist Dak Lak, Gia Lai, and Quang Ngai provinces, with the funding from its H2025 relief account at Vietcombank and from the “Clean Water for Communities” project, sponsored by Procter & Gamble (P&G) through Americares.

Vietnamese, Chinese border guards coordinate to promote legal awareness among residents

During the four-day programme, thousands of leaflets were distributed, covering topics such as border management agreements and protocols, the agreement on regulations for management of the Vietnam–China land border, immigration and customs laws, border gate management, and measures to combat smuggling and trade fraud, as well as the importance of safeguarding national sovereignty and border security.

Breeding cows presented to poor households along Vietnam–Cambodia border

Tuyen Quang works hard to maximise state revenue in 2025

Tuyen Quang’s state budget revenue was estimated at more than 5.55 trillion VND (210.8 million USD) in the first 10 months of 2025, reaching 91% of the target assigned by the Prime Minister and 62.5% of the plan set by the provincial People’s Committee.
