Party Central Committee’s Secretariat disciplines former MPI leader

The Party Central Committee’s Secretariat has decided to give a reprimand to Bui Quang Vinh, former member of the Party Central Committee and former Minister of Planning and Investment, for his responsibility for wrongdoings in Mobifone’s acquisition of 95 percent of AVG shares.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Party Central Committee’s Secretariat has decided to give areprimand to Bui Quang Vinh, former member of the Party Central Committee andformer Minister of Planning and Investment, for his responsibility forwrongdoings in Mobifone’s acquisition of 95 percent of AVG shares.

The decision was madeduring a meeting of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on November 27after considering the proposal of the Party Central Committee’s InspectionCommission asking the Secretariat to consider and discipline Vinh.

While serving asSecretary of the Party Committee and Minister of the MPI, Vinh showed a lack ofresponsibility when signing the MPI’s Document No.721/BKHDT-KCHTDT dated November24, 2015 asking the Prime Minister to approve the project’s investment policy.

After hearing someunusual information on the project, Vinh submitted a document suggesting stoppingthe project, but the Minister of Information and Communications had already approvedand implemented it.

Vinh then acknowledgedhis wrongdoings and accepted disciplinary measures.

Authorised agenciesconsidered the wrongdoings and shortcomings of Vinh and came to the conclusion thatstrict punishment should be given for his mistakes in line with the Party’sregulations.

The decision of the PartyCentral Committee’s Secretariat was based on Regulation No.102-QD/TW issued onDecember 15, 2017 by the Politburo on punishment to Party members who commitviolations. –VNA
