Paris (VNA) – General Secretary of the CommunistParty of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong and his entourage arrived in Paris onMarch 26 morning, beginning the official visit to France.

A welcome ceremony was solemnly held in rituals for a headof state.

Later, the Party chief headed to the southeastern outlyingcity of Choisy Le Roi in Val-de-Marne department, Ile-de-France administrativeregion. The city witnessed negotiations on the Paris Agreement on ending the warand restoring peace in Vietnam from May 1968 to March 1973.

Choisy Le Roi has formed twinning relationship with Hanoi’sDong Da district since 1973 and assisted the district in building schools andmedical stations.

Party General Secretary Trong visited the square named“Paris Agreement” which was inaugurated in 2013 on the occasion of the 40th signinganniversary of Paris Agreement, and met French friends.

In his speech, Governor of Choisy Le Roi city Didier Guillaumerecalled that 45 years ago, the city launched a movement in support of Vietnamand its struggle against imperialists and the use of massive destructionweapons, which helped put an end to the inexcusable war.

He said friendship with Vietnam proves the city’sdetermination to maintain core values of humanity.

French friends said though 45 years passed, they are stillproud of making part of contributions to Vietnam’s war for justice in the past.

Party chief Trong expressed his delight at visiting ChoisyLe Roi city on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomaticties, the fifth anniversary of Vietnam – France strategic partnership and the45th signing anniversary of Paris Agreement.

He extended the most sincere thanks to French friends andlauded the city’s administration for maintaining relic sites linked with ParisAgreement negotiations and signing, saying that they are ever-lasting symbolsof Vietnam – France friendship.

The same day, he met young Vietnamese intellectuals in France,who wished that they would make further contributions to the nation.

Trong affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam alwaysappreciate intelligentsia, consider overseas Vietnamese intellectuals aninvaluable resource for the nation, and frequently issue suitable policies andmechanisms to further uphold their contributions to national development.-VNA

Vietnam, China sign 32 cooperation documents

The documents include a cooperation plan between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the 2026–2030 period; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Organisation Commission of the CPV Central Committee and its Chinese counterpart; and a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.

The trip also included meetings with Vietnamese diplomatic staff and the Vietnamese community in China, exchanges with relatives of Chinese generals, experts and others who had supported Vietnam-China friendship, attendance at a Vietnam - China friendship art programme, a visit to the historic Nanning Yucai School, and participation in activities launching a Vietnam–China Border People’s Festival 2026.
