The Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (tenth tenure) opened its 11th meeting in Hanoi on Oct. 5, to discuss developing and adding supplements to the stance on national construction during transition period on the road to the socialism.

The meeting will also focus on a strategy for socio-economic development over the next ten years (2011-2020) and a detailed draft of a political report to be submitted to the 11th Party Congress.

Other documents to be discussed include a report on issues related to supplements and modifications of the Party’s rules and a report on the socio-economic situation and State budget in 2009, plus plans for 2010.

On addressing the opening ceremony, Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh on behalf of the Central Committee, expressed his sympathy for the victims of typhoon Ketsana and people in the typhoon-stricken central and central highlands provinces.

The 11th meeting of the Party Central Committee is scheduled to conclude on Oct. 10./.
