Vientiane (VNA) – General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President Nguyen Phu Trong met with former General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President Choummaly Sayasone in Vientiane on February 24.

General Secretary and President Trong, who was on an official visit to Laos, informed his host about the outcomes of his talks and meetings with the country’s top leaders, expressing his delight at the continuous development of bilateral ties.

He noted that Vietnam-Laos relations are exemplary, faithful and disinterested ones hard to be found in the world. Amid a complicated context with mixed chances and challenges, the maintenance and promotion of their special relationship are essential and match both countries’ development.

In the development of each side and the enhancement of bilateral links, it is necessary to learn from experience of former leaders, including former Party General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone, so as to unceasingly consolidate these rare relations.
