Party General Secretary receives Lunar New Year greetings from foreign leaders

Leaders of many countries, political parties, and international organisations have sent congratulations to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong on the New Year 2023 and the traditional Lunar New Year of Vietnam.

Hanoi (VNA) – Leaders of many countries,political parties, and international organisations have sent congratulations toGeneral Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong on the New Year 2023 and the traditional Lunar New Year of Vietnam.

In his letter, General Secretary of the Lao People’sRevolutionary Party and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith congratulated theVietnamese people on their glorious victories and enormous achievements,expressing his belief that under the judicious and clear-sighted leadership ofthe Communist Party of Vietnam, led by General Secretary Trong, the Vietnamesepeople will obtain even greater accomplishments in implementing the Resolutionof the 13th National Party Congress to realise the goal of richpeople and a strong, democratic, equal, and civilised country and firmlyprogress towards socialism.

He noted that he is proud of the Laos-Vietnam greatfriendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation, which havebecome a priceless and rare asset of the two peoples and been reinforced anddeveloping substantively in all fields.

The Lao Party, State, and people sincerely thank their Vietnamese counterparts for their great, precious, effective, andtimely assistance in the spirit of comradeship, fraternity, and faithfulness,the Lao leader noted, wishing bilateral relations forever green andsustainable.

On this occasion, CPV General Secretary Trong has alsoreceived New Year greetings from General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of theDemocratic People’s Republic of Korea and President of the country Kim Jong-un,President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President HalimahYacob and Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong, President of theRepublic of Korea Yoon Suk-yeol, Prime Minister of Japan Kishida Fumio and hiswife, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, President of Palestine and Chairmanof the Palestine Liberation Organisation Mahmoud Abbas, Chairman of theNational Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Yang, Vice President of China WangQishan, Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation GennadyZyuganov, Chairwoman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle Megawati Sukarnoputri,along with leaders of many other countries, political parties, international organisations,and the diplomatic corps in Vietnam./.

The documents include an MoU on cooperation within the framework of the Global Security Initiative between the Governments of Vietnam and China, an MoU on cooperation between Hanoi and Beijing for the 2026-2030 period, and a protocol on the establishment, management, and operation of a ministerial-level hotline between the two countries' Ministries of Public Security.

The Vietnamese National Assembly and the Italian Parliament should increase delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, especially the high level; coordinate to effectively implement the outcomes of visits and signed cooperation agreements; and promote the elevation of Vietnam–Italy relations to a new level.

Vietnam and Italy should promote the role of their legislative bodies and enhance oversight of the implementation of bilateral and multilateral cooperation agreements. In particular, they should expand cooperation into emerging fields where Italy has strengths and Vietnam has demand, such as science and technology, artificial intelligence (AI), innovation, and high-quality human resource training.

Regarding future cooperation orientations, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested that the two parties enhance mutual understanding and exchanges, deepen relations in a substantive manner, and promote their roles in strengthening multifaceted cooperation between the two countries. He called for increased people-to-people exchanges and cooperation in culture, arts, education and training, tourism, and locality-to-locality links.
