Hanoi (VNA) – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong paid tribute to the kingsand ancestors who made enormous dedications to the country at Kinh Thien Palace,part of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, in Hanoi on February 13.

He wasaccompanied by Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee DinhTien Dung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chief of the PartyCentral Committee’s Office Le Minh Hung, along with other officials of theParty and Hanoi.

Offeringincense to the kings and ancestors on the occasion of the Lunar New Year, the Partyleader and officials reported on national development achievements and prayedfor peace for the country as well as wealth and happiness for the people.

Talking to the staff of the relic site, General Secretary Trongsaid the Thang Long Imperial Citadel embodies the quintessence of the national cultureand also witnessed successive feudal dynasties constructing and defending thecountry, which contributed to the time-honoured history and culture of Vietnam.

He asked them to upholdthe highest sense of responsibility to help preserve and promote the historicaland cultural values of the citadel’s central sector, which was recognised as a world culturalheritage site by UNESCO.

Kinh Thien Palacewas built in 1428 under the Le Dynasty (1428 - 1789) on the ground of CanNguyen Palace of the Ly Dynasty (1009 - 1225) and Thien An Palace of the Ly andTran (1226 - 1400) dynasties.

During the Nguyen Dynasty(1802 - 1945), a new citadel was built under the reign of King Gia Long, butKinh Thien Palace still formed an important part there. This palace was renamedLong Thien in 1841./.

Vietnam, China sign 32 cooperation documents

The documents include a cooperation plan between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the 2026–2030 period; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Organisation Commission of the CPV Central Committee and its Chinese counterpart; and a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.
