Hanoi (VNA) - The Hanoi Run for Children 2019 took place at the main gateof the Thong Nhat Park in Hanoi on December 8.

Theannual event was co-organised by the Vietnam-Canada Friendship Associationunder the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), the Hanoi Union ofFriendship Organisations and the Canadian Embassy in Vietnam.

Enterprises,representatives of embassies, local and international people living in Hanoijoined the run.

Speakingat the event, VUFO Chairwoman Nguyen Phuong Nga said the run would raise fundsfor not only children in Hanoi but also those nationwide.

It wasalso a people-to-people exchange activity that would promote mutualunderstanding and friendship between the people of Vietnam and those of othercountries, and with Canadians in particular, she said.

A shirtselling campaign was held seven days before the event. For each shirt sold at 100,000VND (4.3 USD), buyers would contribute 50,000 VND (2.1 USD) to young patients.

The HanoiRun for Children 2019 collected more than 1.2 billion VND (52,100 USD). All themoney will help disadvantaged children with cancer and congenital heart diseasesat the National Paediatrics Hospital, the Hanoi Heart Hospital and theHeartbeat Vietnam of VinaCapital Foundation./.

Authorities warn against hiring foreign workers violating immigration rules

Investigations revealed that several foreign nationals had been sponsored by two companies headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City to apply for temporary residence cards under the category of investors. However, the individuals were not genuine investors but had completed procedures through intermediaries in order to remain in Vietnam.
