Earlier, their Philippine fishermen’s vessel was sunk by aChinese boat at the Reed Bank in Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago onJune 9.
The case highlights the importance of moral and legal termsas mentioned in Article 33, the UNCLOS, as well as the International MaritimeOrganisation’s International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, he said.
On the occasion, he called on UN member states to not saywords about international conventions but to enforce them in real life.
