Phu Yen has first advanced new-style rural commune

Phu Yen (VNA) – Hoa Quang Bac in Phu Hoa districthas become the first commune of the south central province of Phu Yen earningthe advanced “new-style” rural status.

A ceremony was held on May 18 for the commune toreceive the recognition.

The commune was recognised as a new-style rural area in2016.

To date, 82 percent of the commune’s roads have beenconcreted and all three schools reached the national standards.

The provincial People’s Committee took the occasion topresent Hoa Quang Bac with 200 million VND (8,600 USD) for the construction of local welfare development projects while the commune also honoured organisationsand individuals who have made great contributions to the new-style ruralbuilding campaigns.

The national target programme on building new-styled ruralareas was initiated by the Government in 2010 with the aim of developing ruralregions. The list of criteria includes the development of infrastructure, theimprovement of production capacity, environmental protection, and the promotionof cultural values.
