Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc (R) welcomes Timothy Geithner, former Secretary of Treasury of the US and now President of Warburg Pincus (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a reception inHanoi on May 7 for Timothy Geithner, former Secretary of Treasury of the US andnow President of Warburg Pincus, during which he appreciated the US firm’sinvestment in several projects in Vietnam.
PM Phuc said thatVietnam-US relations are developing well in all fields, noting that Vietnamconsiders the US one of its most important partners, and wants to enhance thebilateral comprehensive partnership, especially in economics, trade, andinvestment.
He affirmed that Vietnamalways does its utmost to improve its business and investment environment andpays attention to removing difficulties for foreign investors, including thosefrom the US.
Geithner informed thehost that Warburg Pincus has invested in five projects in Vietnam, with two inthe financial field.
According to him,Vietnam has succeeded in economic reform and improving its business climate,thus creating optimism among investors.
In the context of acomplicated international situation, he expressed his hope that Vietnam willmaintain its reform and integration efforts and create more favourableconditions for foreign investors in finance, banking, and e-payment.
Acknowledging theguest’s proposals, the Government leader said that Vietnam always attachesimportance to its goal of macro-economic stability to enhance confidence amongenterprises and investors. –VNA
