PM attends Hanoi’s Patriotic Emulation Congress

The Patriotic Emulation Congress of Hanoi for the 2020-2025 period was held in the capital city on October 3 with the attendance of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Patriotic Emulation Congress ofHanoi for the 2020-2025 period was held in the capital city on October 3 withthe attendance of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. 

Delivering a report reviewing the city’s emulation andcommendation movement during the 2015-2020 period, Chairman of the municipalPeople’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh highlighted its achievements, which he said,have made important contributions to fulfilling socio-political, economic,national defence-security tasks assigned to the city.

Over the past five years, tens of thousands of localcollectives and individuals have been honoured by the Party, State, PrimeMinister and municipal People’s Committee with the titles of heroic Vietnamesemothers, labour heroes, national emulation soldiers and certificates of merit.As many as 59 outstanding individuals were recognised as outstanding citizensof the city for 2015-2019.

Anh stressed that the Party Organisation, administration andpeople of Hanoi will continue staying united, overcoming challenges toaccomplish socio-political, economic and cultural tasks for 2020-2025 and the subsequentyears, thus deserving its tradition as a City for Peace.

Addressing the event, PM Phuc, who is also Chairman of theCentral Council for Emulation and Commendation, asked Hanoi to continuerenewing its emulation and commendation affairs in order to ensure openness,transparency and democracy.

He expressed his belief that following the congress, themunicipal authorities, armed forces and people will effectively carry outemulation campaigns and movements to build a modern and civilised city.

Later, Anh called on local departments, agencies,businesspeople, officials, cadres, workers and people from walks of life torespond to the city’s patriotic emulation movements, contributing to fulfillingpolitical tasks for 2020-2025.

On the occasion, PM Phuc presented the title of Hero of the People’sArmed Forces to the city’s volunteer young people force.

Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Informationand Education Vo Van Thuong and President of the Vietnam Fatherland FrontCentral Committee Tran Thanh Man granted Labour Orders to outstandingcollectives for the 2015-2020 period.

Ten outstanding citizens of the city in 2020 were alsohonoured. A number of collectives and individuals also received certificates ofmerit from the Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee for theirachievements in emulation movements for 2015-2020.

Earlier, PM Phuc and the city’s leaders visited anexhibition on Hanoi’s patriotic emulation movements for the 2015-2020 period./.

Vietnam, Laos boost youth cooperation, education
