Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc held a working session with the Foreign Ministry in Hanoi on February 24 to direct preparations for the upcoming DPRK-USA Hanoi Summit Vietnam slated for February 27- 28.
Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung detailed the preparations to the government leader in terms of security, protocol, logistics and media work. He said the ministry had established working groups and assigned specific tasks to officials and key units.
On February 23, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh inaugurated the international media centre for the summit. The Foreign Ministry had completed procedures for more than 2,600 foreign journalists to cover the event.
PM Phuc asked the ministry to work closely with ministries, agencies and localities to ensure the summit is a success.
The ministry was told to deploy staff to work round-the-clock, ensuring timely and sufficient supply of information and popularising Vietnam, its country and people to the world.
During a working session with the Government Office the same day, he said the second summit between the DPRK and the US is a political and diplomatic event of top significance in Vietnam this year.
The office was urged to ensure security and safety and hold cultural and tourism events to improve Vietnam’s image.
On the evening of the same day, the leader inspected preparations at the summit’s international media centre at Huu Nghi Cultural Palace for a second time.-VNA
