Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has asked the Dung Quat oil refinery’s management board and relevant agencies to conduct thorough examination and solve all technical problems before putting the factory back into operation on Sept. 30.

The PM made the request on Sept. 20, while leading a government mission to inspect the Dung Quat oil refinery in the central province of Quang Ngai .

The refinery started its operation on a trial basis on June 24, but had to stop on August 18 due to technical problem with the valve equipment.

Working with leaders of the National Oil and Gas Group, local authorities, the project’s management board and representatives of the project’s contractors, PM Dung stressed that Dung Quat oil refinery is a national key project. The plant has turned out high-quality products, which were sold out to the domestic market, marking great efforts of investors and contractors, he said.

The PM agreed that the National Oil and Gas Group would carry out study to expand the refinery’s capacity to 10 million tonnes a year.

By August 18, Dung Quat oil refinery had produced 38,888 tonnes of LPG, almost 199,000 tonnes of Mogas A92 gasoline, over 142,000 tonnes of diesel, over 38,000 tonnes of kerosene and about 18,000 tonnes of FO.

On this occasion, PM Dung visited the National Oil and Gas Group’s Polypropylene plant, which is under construction next to the Dung Quat oil refinery./.
