Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on January 2 pressed a button to launch a traffic radio information channel for Ho Chi Minh City .
The traffic information channel on FM 91 Mhz, which was first launched in the capital city of Hanoi by Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), provides road users with updated information on traffic congestions on airtime of 21 hours and 30 minutes.
Speaking at the launch, PM Dung praised the VOV for its close coordination with the local authorities and relevant agencies to put the traffic information channel into use in a very short time to help ease traffic jams in HCM City .
“The traffic information channel is very necessary,” the Government leader stressed, pointing to the fact that weak transport infrastructure, growing number of vehicles, and poor observance of traffic law by road users are making traffic congestions more frequent and severer.
He asked the VOV, apart from giving news on traffic jams, to disseminate traffic law and rules to raise road users’ awareness of abiding by law and establish a traffic culture./.
