Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has made a series of requests to protect the interests of Vietnamese citizens working abroad following the recent attack on two Vietnamese workers in Algeria.

The Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Labour, Invalids & Social Affairs were asked to work closely with relevant Algerian agencies on the case.

The Department of Overseas Labour and Simco Song Da Company will work with its Chinese contractor – the employer of the victims – to protect their legitimate rights and provide support for any guest workers who want to return home.

Companies that send workers to foreign countries are responsible for regularly checking the working conditions onsite and updating the representative Vietnamese office abroad on the list of workers in the area, facilitating citizen protection during any contingency cases.-VNA
