PM meets foreign leaders at Seoul Summit

PM Nguyen Tan Dung met with international politicians during Seoul Summit
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung held bilateral meetings withinternational politicians on the threshold of the second Seoul NuclearSecurity Summit on March 25 and 26.

In a meeting withNew Zealand counterpart John Key, Prime Minister Dung proposed theearly signing of an agreement on double taxation avoidance and acooperative accord on education and training for a new phase. Hesuggested the effective implementation of the newly inked agreement onworking holidays.

PM Dung also proposedorganising the fourth session of the Joint Committee for Economic andTrade Cooperation within this year.

For hispart, PM John Key said he hopes the two countries would increasecooperation in international and regional forums as well as visits ofdefence delegations and forge cooperation in logistics and the defenceindustry.

He also urged speeding up theimplementation of the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement,trade and investment promotion, at the same time creating conditions forthe two countries’ businesses to seek opportunities for education andlabour cooperation, among other fields.

The twoPMs agreed to beef up cooperation in fields of the two countries’strengths and at international forums, including the UN, ASEAN, EastAsia Summit, Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) and the Asia-Pacific EconomicCooperation (APEC) forum.

In another meetingwith Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg of the UK , PM Dung praised theUK ’s role in promoting nuclear security and safety and its initiativesto this Summit .

Vietnam is completingmechanisms and wants to cooperate with the UK and other countries toincrease Vietnam ’s capacity in ensuring nuclear security and safetyin nuclear use for peaceful purposes, said the Vietnamese PM.

Dung also suggested that both countries should increase dialogues andcooperation, exchange information on issues of mutual concern andpromote bilateral cooperation in trade, investment and education.

He said he hopes the UK will continue to support Vietnam indeveloping the international standard Vietnam-UK University andfacilitate Vietnamese students study in the UK .

The UKDeputy Prime Minister spoke of the need for the two countries to worktogether to boost two-way trade value to 4 billion USD by 2013.

PM Dung also met with his Pakistani counterpart RazaGillani. The two PMs expressed their delight at increasing two-way tradethat hit 325 million USD last year.

The two PMsspoke highly of discussions between the two ministries and branches forsigning a number of agreements on investment encouragement andprotection and fighting crime.

PM Dung said the two countries should enhance ventures in investment, cultural, education and training exchange.

PM Raza Gillani proposed both sides increase visits and meetingsbetween the two countries’ ministries, branches, localities andbusinesses and actively implement agreements reached at the secondVietnam-Pakistan Joint Commission in 2010 and the first session of theVietnam-Pakistan Trade Sub-Committee in 2011 in Hanoi.-VNA
